School Consultation

Jewish special educators from MATAN are available to come to your school to help teachers address the needs of particular students in their classrooms. A typical consult includes:

  • Initial conversation (by phone or in person) with you and/or the classroom teacher to establish what type of challenge is being presented.
  • One or more in-class observations, followed by a detailed report of how the child was functioning in the classroom. This may also be accompanied by conversations with the parents, and, with permission, secular school teachers and any outside specialists the child may be seeing.
  • A write-up of specific strategies that can be implemented within the classroom to help the child (and therefore the teacher) be more successful.
  • Follow-up conversation with the teacher to assess whether or not the recommended strategies have improved the situation.

Consultations are available to help you develop a method of obtaining more information about existing learning issues of your current and incoming students, and what to do with that information once you have obtained it.
